- Organ Accompaniment
Luminosa Chamber Voices, a select group of 25 singers, are delighted to be returning to St John The Baptist Church, Greatham, following a thoroughly well received concert in February.
On Saturday 11th November at 6:30pmwe will, under the expert guidance of Rebekah Abbott, bring you the beautifully lyrical Faure Requiem. Faure’s work has a feeling of prayerful lament, whilst simultaneously holding a sense of hope. Faure himself described his work as “dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.” To complement this, the choir will also perform Eternal Light by Howard Goodall, less well known but no less beautiful. Eternal Light uses as its inspiration texts and poetry from the poets of the Great War, interspersing this with conventional requiem text. Both works are uplifting and engaging in equal measure
After this free concert, there will be a bar and also a retiring collection in aid of the church.
Please do come and join us for an evening of reflective music for the soul
