Luminosa

Voices

Luminosa Voices are an 80 Strong Choir based in North East Hampshire, we are committed to  delivering a diverse programme of choral repertoire ranging from much loved sacred and liturgical repertoire through to Opera, 20th Century Art Music and diverse concerts encompassing World Music and Jazz. It is our ambition to become recognised at a National Level.

The choir is made up of members from all walks of life, a core part of our philosophy is recognising the power of community and collective music making. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Every member of the choir has a role to play within the running and administration of the choir. Friendships are forged, members are kind, courteous and helpful. Amidst a National Mental Health crisis it has long been recognised the benefits of collective music making, The name Luminosa means ‘Radiant and Bright’ this encompasses our focus on hard work and positivity.

We really fortunate to have the excellent leadership and guidance of three immensely talented and knowledgeable leaders. Our Artistic Director – Rebekah Abbott, Accompanist and Vocal Coach – Johnathan Upfold and Accompanist and Alto – Alison Willis. For more information about our leaders please check out our People page.

Luminosa Voices began in a small hall in Holybourne, but quickly outgrew the space and made the move to the ‘Alton Maltings’ where we rehearse weekly on a Tuesday evening at 19:45 until 21:45. There is a short break in every rehearsal an opportunity to socialise and catch up with news whilst having a breather and a biscuit.

The choir are currently recruiting for experienced musicians with a Tenor or Bass voice, please check out the ‘Join Us’ Page for more information. Please check out the link below to get an idea of the quality of our sound.
